Sunday 22 April 2012

It's been a while, but i'm back. Scares me to say it but i've finished my final project for university now so should have lots of time to do some fun posts. I have a graduate show in May and once that's over I am officially finished. It feels weird sitting here not having to do any work. My life has been completely taken over by university this year so I feel slightly empty now it's over. Anyway I have included a little post of recent pictures, it has been a while so there are quite a few. I am looking forward to being able to just sit and read lots of magazines and blogs, the main thing that scares me now i've finished my work is how I will remain 'creative'. I'm going have to make a special effort to keep reading anything and everything, and taking in everything around me.

I'm off to think of some post ideas, I mean I should probably start doing this blogging properly now right?!

Sunday 8 April 2012

My view to work every morning last week from Cardiff to Cheltenham. The train travels right alongside the River Severn and then past lots of lovely countryside.

Saturday 7 April 2012

Saturday mornings are just meant for sitting in the garden relaxing with a coffee, don't ya think?? My garden is in need of a summer re vamp, the plant pots have yet to be filled.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.

Thursday 5 April 2012

Today I just love these pictures of a blossom tree I found in my village. Pretty right? Do these make you happy?!

In my opinion the best song to listen to on a fresh summers day. Beirut are one of my favourite bands; creating relaxing but upbeat songs. Definitely worth a listen, a feel good song - sure to make you smile!

Wednesday 4 April 2012

A few snaps of one of my many trips down the bay last week. I took my proper camera so managed to get some better quality images. It is such a lovely place when the weather is nice. You don't always appreciate the buildings and scenery when you live in the place and see it so often. Sometimes you have to just sit and be to realise what is around you. I just sat and took in the surroundings. It was nice. I also got a Costa Mocha - it just had to be done.

Tuesday 3 April 2012

Just taking a second to appreciate (although I know it's a little late) how absolutely beautiful Kate Winslet looked at the Titanic premier in this amazing Jenny Packham dress. The full length silk number with Swarovski crystal cap sleeves looked so elegant and sophisticated! Don't you agree?

Monday 2 April 2012

So Monday is here again. Below are some pictures from last week. I have been a bit quiet on the blog lately. I've had loads of university work to do. I actually only have 25 days before my final ever hand in and then I am officially finished. My week therefore was quite boring. Ate lots of food (including Yo Sushi + Chimichangas with my friends). It was mother's day so I also went to London with my mum and I took pictures of myself bored in uni using the reflection in my laptop (procrastination). We had some beautiful weather so I also took a trip down to Cardiff bay for a Starbucks, it was extremely busy!! Everyone seems to flock out as soon as there's a bit of sunshine (I don't blame them I did exactly the same). Anyway this week I am lucky to be spending a week in a wonderful little shop in Cheltenham called 'Olive'. I will do a proper blog post on it once I've completed my week. As part of my final project I have to do a work placement relating to the assignment and I managed to get this little week in this amazing shop. Check out the website here! Next week I will inundate you with pictures of the shop.

Hope everyone has had a nice easy Monday.

My Weekend.

This is a little late but a while back I mentioned how I attended the 'blogshop' London course in Shoreditch. Well now I am finally getting round to posting a few pictures. Granted I have about 1000 pictures from the weekend but understand nobody would take pleasure in looking at all of them *I haven't even got round to it yet.

I was lucky enough to spend the weekend at my Aunties flat just outside Nottinghill so enjoyed spending a few days just taking in the London atmosphere. I visited the David Hockney exhibition which was really good, definitely recommend. We went to a late showing which involved a free glass of vodka and coke and also meant the exhibition was lovely and quiet. I went out for numerous meals to wonderful restaurants , which is one thing I love about spending time with my Auntie. I get to go to lots of lovely places, and as you can see she has the most wonderful cats (Heri + Sami). I also took a trip to the electric cinema on Portobello road which was absolutely amazing, we saw 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' and went for diner in a lovely french restaurant after. I couldn't get my head around the whole sofas in a cinema thing - WITH footrests!!! It was like heaven.

There is lots more to say but I always feel like I am rambling and nobody wants to know ha. Anyway hope everyone had a lovely week - yay it's the weekend!!!

Relax!

Thursday 22 March 2012

Hello!

Thought I would do a little wanted list for COS at the moment. I can't help but check the new in section and just stare in awe at all the beautiful clothes. The clothes are so timeless and classic I feel I can justify everything just by saying I can wear it for years and years. Maybe on my next trip to London I will treat myself to a little something for Spring. They just seem to get it so right with the colours, shapes and design of the garments. Below are links to all of the items incase anyone takes a shine to anything.

Satsuki Shibuya

While browsing online & I found this lovely brand stocking various home furnishings. Satsuki is the creator and is an LA born and raised graphic designer. Her love for nature sure comes through in her designs and prints. I definitely recommend checking her out if you are looking for a gift for someone or anything 'home' for yourselves. She stocks a variety of things from aprons, coasters to cushion covers. A really lovely brand, the only downside is she is based in LA so the postage might be a bit pricey and the wait is up to 8 weeks (I would say it is definitely worth the wait though).

ANVE

That moment when you come across something on the internet and you instantly feel the need to share what you have discovered with every single person you speak to that day. Well today, that happened. I stumbled upon this brand 'ANVE'. Taking inspiration from Berlin all the way to Tokyo the brand offers simple, unique and classic designs. Offering an accessories and home-ware range there is plenty to choose from. The fold up bags are what instantly caught my eye. Coming in a range of colours they really are beautiful. I would describe them as different but what I mean is something you won't see somebody else rocking as you walk down the street or walk into a bar. The prices range from about 99 euros up to 230 euros for some of the home accessories. The good news is they ship all over the world. Below I have included some images off the website of the items they sell! Everybody needs to check them out - now!!! This is the website ----> http://anve.net/

Wednesday Wants

Just a few bits from Topshop's new in section. The first thing I do every morning, even before checking facebook (not twitter, twitter is always first) is check the Topshop new in. I love seeing the new and exciting styles they have. I don't think I would wear any of these garments together in an outfit apart from the jacket and bag which are pretty versatile but they all just stood out as something I would wear either with jeans or the dress just with a pair of sandals. I have included links for all of the items below. I always love this time of year when the floral designs start coming in and brightening up the wardrobes.

Jigsaw - SPRNG!

Today I bring to you this wonderful video from Jigsaw. The video titled, 'Spring Jinks with Jigsaw' was directed by Scott Trindle and styled by Victoria Young. Something to get you feeling summery on this bright spring morning. Jigsaw has a really lovely combination of summery pieces this season, definitely worth checking out!

Mother's Day

So Mother's day is fast approaching. I thought I would do a little gift idea's moodboard for some inspiration to anyone who may be struggling.

Sunday 11 March 2012

This Weekend.

So this weekend I ventured to London for a weekend of blogging. Bri + Angela are two wonderful ladies very well known in the world of creative design. Bri a freelance graphic designer and Angela a photographer; together they make the teachers of 'blogshop'. They are based in LA but have done a fair bit of travelling with blogshop over the past year. I will do a proper post about my weekend along with examples of my creations another time - but am currently in desperate need of sleep. I would definitely recommend this weekend to anybody wanting to create a platform for their blogs or just to take their blog to the next level aesthetically. Hopefully they will come back to London soon. I only hope they do a level 2 blogshop!!

Sunday 4 March 2012

TOAST

As usual Coast's Spring 11' collection consists of a beautiful combination of classic and simple pieces. A brand that seems unable to do wrong. Their garments are so easy to wear, sophisticated and great quality. The only downside is the cost, however they do a cracking sale at the end of the season.

Wish List

Loving these two shirts both from H&M in store now. Perfect for the spring summer months. In my opinion there is nothing better than a fresh white shirt with dark skinny jeans, always looks very smart! H&M have been a real favourite of mine as of late, they seem to be getting in alot more 'fashion forward' pieces at really good prices. That european, Scandinavian look is definitely my go to look, simple yet stylish.

P.S

Happy St. David's Day to all the fellow welshies out there!

xo

OOTD - first attempt.

So I thought I would give this a go. I had a lovely camera for my birthday along with many lenses and a tripod so I have no excuse really. Obviously I am not great at this just yet but hopefully as time goes by I shall improve!

Anyway down to the more interesting bits; This is my fresh cold spring day outfit where the sun is shining so you want to show off some colour but it is still cold enough to wear a nice faux fur hat.

jeans(one)top(two)shoes(three)hat(four)

The top is brand new so not yet on the website but I am sure it will appear in the blouses section at some point. Bang on trend bringing out the print which was seen throughout fashion week just gone. And the hat was bought around christmas time but the brown one is still in stock.

This sort of hat is perfect for the spring weather where it is still quite cold and you still want to look fashionable whilst staying warm.

Hope you enjoy.

Song of the day...

James Corden had this song on 'Dessert Island Discs' this morning. It's been in my head ever since. Such a lovely song!

Sundays.

Converse, scruffy jeans, messy hair, minimal make up... Comfort! I like those days.

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend xo

TUMBLR.

Every now and then I find a tumblr page that I just adore, all of the images sit perfectly together and just inspire me on every level. To some extent tumblr to me is where I stare at pictures of models, clothing, shoes or other luxurious things I know I will never have. I have made up my own little moodboard of some images I have found over the past few days that have stood out to me. Obviously I have no idea where the images are from, they are just beautiful; and they definitely are not my own! Sometimes it is just nice to look at pretty pictures eh?!

Love Day

So Valentines day is fast approaching. The time of year boyfriends and husbands often question what to buy for their other half. Below are some gift guides that are simple and easy - you cannot go wrong. Every girl likes a little gesture on February 14th even if it is only something small.

ONA Bag

If you saw my 'Wanted this week' last week you would have noticed it was the ONA CAMERA BAG I was hoping for as part of my 21st birthday present. Well, my wishes came true and the beautiful said bag is on it's way to me!! That being said, there is an 8 week wait so I do have to hang on for a while, but it will sooo be worth it!!!

I really struggled trying to find a 'trendy' camera bag for the camera I got for my birthday and this was the only site I came across that was making really lovely, aesthetically pleasing designs. The only downside is the fact they are shipped from America so you do have to pay postage and the wait for the bags is up to 8 weeks! I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a camera bag to check this site out though!!! While searching for a suitable bag I definitely noticed a gap in the market for anyone who fancies designing some good quality stylish bags - any designers out there?!

The bag I have on it's way is the Chestnut brown 'Brooklyn' style, this is a shoulder bag however ONA do have lots of different colours and style variations two of which I have included below. They do bags for both men and women in backpack styles (suitable for laptops also) and messenger bags. The prices are around the $300 mark however the bags are of exceptional quality and will inevitably last a life time. 300 dollars is around the £190 mark and then you pay for shipping on top.

What do you all think?!

Trends

WANTED....

... it feels to me like it's that awkward time of year when the sun occasionally shines giving you that glimmer of hope you can dust your sandals off and get your ray ban's out. Well living in this current climate we know the bits of sun we see don't often last. One minute it can be sunny, the next snowing... so it seems today anyway! So this got me thinking, it's the time of year you need items that can be worn different ways. The items below I feel are quite transferable; minus the sandals - I only advise these be worn in sunny weather, I do not want to be held responsible for frozen paws ;)!!

The Topshop brogues are something I have be lusting after every since I spotted them on the topshop website the other night, I am literally so close to clicking the 'order' button. I think they are perfect, such neutral colours so will go with anything, could be dressed up with a little dress or more casual with the jeans pictured below!

COS is a brand I have blogged about once before, I literally adore everything they create. They are a Swedish brand in the same group as H&M but at a slightly higher price bracket. They do such lovely accessories and this blue bracelet would be perfect for a simple outfit you wanted to add a little detail to.

So if you are someone who knows me you would know I have a real 'thing' for nautical stripes - I could literally wear a striped top every single day... well, maybe. I think it is a staple peice in that you can wear it casually, in the summer, in the winter, dress it up, wear it with jeans, wear it with converse... the list is endless. Therefore a stripe top is included in this moodboard I have created. This particular top is from COS however you can pick up really cheap versions for about £6 in H&M (I know this as whenever I see one I buy it - crazy I know).

The jeans are also by COS and are such a staple piece, everyone needs a good pair of jeans, in my opinion these are quite casual but going with the winter/summer look they could be rolled up in the warmer months worn with the ASOS sandals or kept down with the Topshop Brogues on the cooler days.

This TOAST bag I actually purchased a few weeks ago and it has not left my side since. Being in university I have to lug my laptop around with me almost everywhere I go so this bag has proved a huge success. It is a lovely autumnal colour so perfect for this time of year but also very neutral so will go with anything!!

Finally... I realise I have been a bit 'COS heavy' in this post, I bring to you a beautiful pair of COS black boots. Absolute classics, cannot go wrong - however are a bit pricey. An investment though... right?!

Hope you enjoy, this is my first real 'trends' post I have attempted so apologies if it isn't as inspiring as others!! All links are included below :)

Memory Lane

My Saturday this week was lovely. I did have work, only for 7 hours which was fine. I then went for a meal with my best friend, Sarah. We ate at 'Ask' in the centre of town and had a delicious meal and a cheeky glass of wine. I then went back to my parents house where I sat for 3 hours looking through a box of old photos - it was so much fun!!!! I have included a handful of the photos below for you all to have a giggle at. It is my brother 18th birthday in a few weeks so I have a few good'uns I will be able to use for his birthday card! Today was not so fun however, I've been working on my dissertation for what feels like a lifetime, it's sunday though - who does work on a sunday heyy!!!

Hope you have all had a lovely weekend!

p.s can you tell i am such a 90's kid?!

Odette New York

Whilst trawling though my daily blog reads I came across this beautiful jewellery collection. It can be found HERE!

The website states,
"Odette New York is a Brooklyn-based jewelry line inspired by organic and industrial shapes, natural specimens, uncommon artifacts, and primitive forms; made using ancient and modern wax carving techniques and hand fabrication."
The pricing I found to be very reasonable however based in New York means they operate in US dollars which is a slight downside. There are other websites that stock this brand of jewellery however so it's worth having a look online!

What do you all think?!

Voyage à Paris

Today I head off to London where I will get the train to Paris. It is all very exciting but scary at the same time. I will be attending the 'Who's Next' trade show which is where fashion industry professionals choose and look about at the stock that will be out in the next season. So buyers go along and decide which collections they will have in their shops whether they're small independent retailers or department stores. This is all very new to me so I am really looking forward to it but also apprehensive as to how it will turn out. As I graduate in a few months I am trying to keep my options open as to where I go next. One potential idea is to open a small boutique where I live in Cardiff, another is to go into the 'Buying' area of fashion. Whichever I decide events like trade shows are very helpful and are good to give you a look at what I could potentially be doing very soon! Anyway I shall try and take lots of pictures and upload them all when i'm back.

Have a lovely weekend.... or as the french would say J'espere que tu passe un bon week-end... I think!

Friday 20 January 2012

Girl got specs.

I finally got glasses, I have been suffering with really bad headaches as I spend about 14 hours a day at my laptop so was given a prescription. I opted for a pair of Ray Ban's so am currently sporting the 'geeky' look. Let's just help the headaches hold off!!!
